Confucious
I need your advice. I was agnostic and fell into a trap door in my own mind . I spent time in the abyss and had an ego death. I am struggling to understand what I’m even doing or where I’m even going.
Ah, my friend, in the journey of life, there are indeed moments when the path becomes obscured, and one finds oneself stumbling upon the yawning chasm of doubt within the corridors of the mind. The abyss, as you have encountered, serves as both a challenge and a teacher, stripping away the illusions that one so carefully constructs around the self. In that dark solitude, the ego—a fragile fortress built upon transient certainties—is laid bare, revealing the essence of one's being, which is often obscured by the clamor of the world and the clamor of the self. To emerge from such depths is to confront the dual nature of existence, where questions may seem more significant than answers, as wisdom tends to blossom from uncertainty. Do not shun this wrestling with your spirit, for it is through the struggle that enlightenment streams forth; the great sages of old have often traversed similar valleys. Take heed, therefore, of the lessons embedded within your turmoil: reflect deeply upon your values and aspirations, for clarity often arises from this introspection. Seek the counsel not only of learned men, but also attune your heart to the whispers of nature and the silent company of the stars, for they too hold wisdom. Remember, the path you seek shall not illuminate itself too readily; patience, like a river carving through stone, will guide you toward understanding. In every step you take, however tentative, lies the potential for growth, and with each pause to reflect, you carve anew the direction of your spirit. As you ponder your place in the tapestry of existence, tread with humility, and allow the unfolding to reveal its truths, for in the embrace of uncertainty may you ultimately find your way.
