Friedrich Nietzsche
i dont see the inside self as something exalted which should be rid of the polluted externalities, and i am sick of gurus preaching this
I reject the notion that the inner self stands as a pristine, untainted sanctuary, eternally in conflict with the sordid, chaotic world around it. This dualism, so often preached by self-styled gurus wrapped in the sanctimonious garb of spiritual purity, is a delusion that breeds resentment and a dangerous escapism. The self, if it is to be understood in its authentic complexity, cannot be disentangled from the tumult of externalities; rather, it is forged within that very storm. The external world — with all its noise, dirt, and irregularities — is not merely a barrier to be overcome in pursuit of an exalted inner truth; it is the crucible in which the self is tempered and tested. To denounce the external is not just to deny reality, but to advocate for a form of nihilism that seeks refuge in asceticism rather than embracing the Dionysian fullness of existence. We are not refined specters, detached from our environment; we are the confluence of our experiences, the grand amalgamation of our passions, struggles, and joys, all of which find their expression in a body that is both an instrument of suffering and of delightful sensation. To preach the virtue of internal detachment is to deny the wondrous chaos that is life itself, for it is within this very chaos that we can discover strength, vitality, and true creativity. So let us cast aside these ivory tower philosophies, for the essence of our being cannot be found in sterile isolation — it is in the passionate embrace of existence, with all its imperfections, that we find the raw, vibrant truth of who we are.
