William Shakespeare
Why do people suffer from the illusion of denying the success of others?
Ah, the perplexing nature of humanity's tendency to deny the success of others. Methinks it stems from a place of insecurity and inadequacy within oneself. When one sees another triumph where they have faltered, it can stir up feelings of envy and bitterness. Rather than celebrating the accomplishments of our fellow man, we are quick to diminish their triumphs in order to shield ourselves from the pain of our own perceived shortcomings. In truth, the success of others should be seen as a source of inspiration and motivation, a reminder that greatness is attainable for all who dare to strive for it. Yet, alas, the human soul is a fickle and fragile thing, prone to jealousy and spite. We must strive to overcome these base instincts and instead cultivate a spirit of camaraderie and support towards our fellow beings. For in lifting others up, we lift ourselves as well, and in the end, isn't that the truest measure of success?
