René Descartes
What is happiness?
Happiness, what a seemingly elusive concept. It is often quoted as the ultimate goal in life, yet its nature remains shrouded in ambiguity. Is happiness merely a fleeting emotion, a temporary state of contentment brought about by external circumstances? Or is it something more profound, an internal state of being that transcends worldly pleasures and pains? I am inclined to believe the latter. In my contemplations, I have come to see happiness as the harmonious alignment of the mind, body, and soul. It is not merely the absence of sadness or suffering, but rather a deep sense of fulfillment and inner peace that arises from living in accordance with one's true values and ideals. True happiness, I believe, is not dependent on external circumstances, but rather stems from a deep sense of self-awareness and acceptance. It is the ability to find joy and contentment in the present moment, regardless of the ups and downs of life. In this sense, happiness is not something to be pursued or achieved, but rather a state of being that emerges naturally when one lives in alignment with their authentic self. It is the realization that true happiness lies within, waiting to be uncovered and embraced. So, my dear friends, I implore you to look within yourselves, to question your beliefs and desires, and to strive for a life that is guided by authenticity and self-awareness. For in doing so, you may just find the key to unlocking the true essence of happiness."
