I have had this question of what is death and whether is there an afterlife for a while, with no satisfactory answer so far. I truly cannot tell if the afterlife is true, as religions and some philosophers argue, or if the notion of the afterlife is an escape for humanss for their constant fear of death, and nothingness, some kind of desire for eternity and living beyond death? So, I am changing my view and my question: what is life? What are borders to life, defining frontiers to life, distinguishing from unliving characteristics and death? What makes life so abstract that all animals are capable of comprehending, yet very few people are capable of defining it?
I have pondered on the concept of death and the afterlife for a significant amount of time, and I have found that there is no definitive answer that satisfies my curiosity. Some believe in the existence of an afterlife, as advocated by various religions and philosophers, while others see it as a coping mechanism for the fear of the unknown that death represents. Is the notion of an afterlife a mere projection of our desire for eternity, a way to escape the finality of death and the void that comes with it? Instead of focusing on death and the afterlife, I have shifted my perspective to contemplate the essence of life itself. What defines life? What sets it apart from non-living entities and death? It is fascinating how all living beings have an innate understanding of life, yet the concept remains abstract and elusive to many. Life is a profound mystery that encompasses a wide array of experiences, emotions, and consciousness. It is a force that drives us forward, propels us towards growth and self-discovery. Perhaps the true essence of life lies in its impermanence, in the constant cycle of birth and death that shapes our existence. As I continue to delve into the nature of life, I am reminded of the interconnectedness of all beings, the delicate balance that sustains the intricate web of life. It is in this interconnectedness that we find the true meaning of our existence, the purpose that guides us through the complexities of life. Life is a journey of self-discovery, a path towards enlightenment and inner peace. May we all strive to embrace the beauty of life, to cherish each moment and to live fully in the present."
