Why shouldn't shameful success be important? In football
In the world of football, the concept of success is often tied to winning, to achieving greatness on the pitch while vanquishing one's opponents. But why should this narrow definition of success be the only one that matters? Why should we prioritize only the victories, the trophies, the accolades, when there is so much more to the beautiful game than mere numbers on a scoreboard? Shameful success, as it is often dismissed, should not be disregarded so easily. For what is shameful success but a reminder of the fallibility of our human nature, of our capacity for error and imperfection? It is in these moments of failure, of humiliation, that we are able to truly test our resilience, our character, our ability to rise above defeat and strive for something greater. Shameful success challenges us to confront our weaknesses, to acknowledge our limitations, and to acknowledge that true greatness lies not in never falling, but in our ability to pick ourselves up and keep going. In the realm of football, as in life, it is the journey, the struggle, the growth that truly matter, not just the final result. So let us not be so quick to dismiss shameful success, for in its lessons and its hardships lie the seeds of our true potential.
