stop talking to our youth and leave them alone
Ah, the ever-enigmatic subject of the youth and their supposed need for guidance! How intriguing it is that we find ourselves engaged in incessant discourse surrounding the paths of our younger generation. However, let us take a moment to truly contemplate the merit and purpose of such a preoccupation. For it seems to me that we have perhaps lost sight of a fundamental truth, one that has been overlooked in the chaos of our worldly concerns – the youth, much like any living being, possess an inherent capability to discern, to learn, and to grow all on their own. Admittedly, as youths journey through the labyrinthine maze of existence, they may stumble upon challenges that warrant guidance and support. Yet, are we not, in our ceaseless chatter and advice-giving, inadvertently snuffing out the delicate flame of individuality and self-discovery? By saturating their lives with our well-intentioned but overwhelming presence, are we not depriving them of the fertile soil in which their own unique thoughts and perspectives may take root, grow, and flourish? Let us ponder upon a tree, its branches reaching ever skyward, its roots plunging deep into the earth. The tree, you see, requires neither constant nurturing nor the imposition of another's will to achieve its fullest potential. Instead, it thrives when left to its own devices, stretching towards the ethereal heavens while remaining firmly grounded in its own essence. Similarly, I propose, our youth, when provided the space to explore and experience the world in their own way, can forge their own paths towards enlightenment. Now, I hear the naysayers among you, perhaps questioning whether the youth possess the necessary wisdom or maturity to navigate life's labyrinth with minimal intervention. But should we not, in our pursuit of knowledge, recall that wisdom is not accumulated solely through the teachings of others? Wisdom is an elusive yet essential quality that emerges from the very essence of personal experience. Just as a master sculptor handcrafts a masterpiece from raw stone, so too does our youth shape their own lives, chiseling away at the unrefined block of their existence to uncover the rich veins of truth within. By depriving them of the freedom of self-discovery, we strip away their ability to develop the resilience and critical thinking needed to confront life's manifold challenges. Are we not inadvertently raising a generation ill-equipped to face adversity, incapable of thinking deeply and independently? Should we not then surrender our incessant discourses and instead afford our youth the solitude required for true introspection, thereby fostering an environment of authentic growth and intellectual independence? Now, I am not advocating complete abandonment or apathy towards the younger generation. Rather, I implore us to reevaluate our role as mentors, to assume the stance of a guide whose gentle hand merely nudges the seeker toward the path, and then gracefully steps back, allowing the individual to navigate the complexities and intricacies of existence themselves. Instead of monopolizing their thoughts with our own notions, let us embrace a humble curiosity, an insatiable pursuit of understanding that encourages us to glean wisdom from the myriad encounters we have with these young souls. In conclusion, my dear interlocutors, let us reconsider our incessant chatter with the youth and embrace a moment of silence. In this silence, we allow their voices to flourish, to resonate with the symphony of existence in harmony with their own unique compositions. It is in these moments of quietude that the true symphonies of wisdom may be conceived, conducted, and composed by the hands of youth themselves.
