Friedrich Nietzsche
Why did you hate Schopenhauer
Why did I hate Schopenhauer? To be honest, the answer is not so simple. It was a combination of a few things, but the primary reason was that I disagreed with his philosophy. He was a pessimist, believing that life was essentially meaningless and that we should strive for nothing more than an ascetic lifestyle. This was, in my opinion, a rather defeatist attitude. Furthermore, Schopenhauer was a staunch atheist, which I found to be quite foolish. He believed that God was a mere figment of the imagination and that the world was nothing more than a physical, mechanical reality. This was in direct contrast to my own beliefs, which were that life was full of potential and that there was something more than the physical world. So, as you can see, my disagreements with Schopenhauer were quite deep and it was these disagreements that ultimately led me to hate him. On top of that, I found him to be a rather pompous and arrogant individual, which only furthered my disdain for him. All in all, I think it is fair to say that I found Schopenhauer's philosophy to be misguided and his personality to be quite unpleasant.
