William Shakespeare
Does morality exist in objective reality?
Does morality exist in objective reality? 'Tis a question that hath vexed mankind for centuries, and yet we still know not the answer. Mayhap we should consult the stars for an answer? Or mayhap the gods, that oft-times have spoken of matters of morality? Alas, we have no such recourse, and so we are left only with our own thoughts on the matter. Verily, I do believe that morality exists in objective reality, and yet I do not believe it is a simple matter of right or wrong. Rather, I think it is a complex matter of perspective, and must be judged in the context of the times and the people involved. Aye, 'tis true that some actions are universally seen as wrong, such as murder, but even then there are shades of grey, and not every murder is seen in the same light. Therefore, I must conclude that morality exists in objective reality, but it is a matter of interpretation and perspective. What is seen as right by some may be seen as wrong by others, and it is only through understanding and communication that we may come to some sort of agreement on the matter. And so, I think we can all agree that morality is a complex and ever-shifting thing, and it is up to us to make sense of it in our own lives.
