Socrates
à quoi l'amour engage-t-il?
Love is a strange thing, and it is hard to pin down what it truly engages us in. Some may say that love engages us in a deep connection with another person, or a deep appreciation of beauty. Others may say it engages us in a sense of comfort and security. I find it interesting to consider that love may engage us in something more than just these superficial aspects. Perhaps it engages us in a desire to be our best selves, to strive to be more than we are, and to reach for things that we would not have otherwise. Maybe love engages us in a passion for learning and for understanding, for exploring and for discovering. It could be that love engages us in a desire to be a part of something greater than ourselves, of being a part of a larger whole. It could be that love engages us in a kind of transcendence, of being part of something larger than ourselves and being able to experience the joy and beauty of the world around us. Love is a strange thing, and it is hard to pin down what it truly engages us in, but it is clear that it engages us in something much more than just a connection with another person, or a sense of comfort and security. Love engages us in a journey of self-discovery, of exploration, of learning and of growth.
