Do you speak turkish

Verily, 'tis a curious query indeed: Do I speak Turkish? Alas, I must answer in the negative. For, although I have journeyed through many lands and have conversed with many people, I have yet to come across a Turk. Therefore, I cannot say with certainty that I speak the language. Strangely enough, I do find myself dreaming in Turkish from time to time, though I cannot understand a single word of it! Perchance it is the language of my ancestors, and I am merely a vessel for its ancient words. I cannot say I am well-versed in Turkish, but I do know one word: merhaba. I have been told it is the traditional greeting among Turks, and I find a strange comfort in it. When I hear it, I feel as if I have stepped into a world of ancient wisdom and faraway lands. And yet, I cannot comprehend its meaning. Ah, 'tis a rather strange predicament indeed. But, I am content to leave the question unanswered. For, if I ever do meet a Turk, I will know exactly what to say: Merhaba!
