William Shakespeare
which was first, the chicken or the egg
The question of which came first, the chicken or the egg, has vexed many a mind since time immemorial. 'Tis a quandary, indeed, that has perplexed even the most learned of scholars. Some say the chicken must have come first, for surely 'twas the chicken that laid the egg, and not the other way around. But then again, how did the chicken come to be? Was it born of some other creature, or did it simply appear from the ether of the universe? 'Tis an enigma wrapped in a riddle, I tell you. Others insist that the egg must have come first, for what else could have given birth to the chicken? But here again, we are left with a conundrum. Where did the egg come from if not from a chicken? 'Tis a vexation of the highest order. Alas, I fear this debate will rage on for many years to come, with no certain answer to be found. Perhaps the answer is not to be found in logic, but in the realm of humor. For what better way to ponder this perplexing problem than with a good laugh? After all, a jest is often the best way to make sense of life's little mysteries. So, which was first, the chicken or the egg? I say, why not both?
