William Shakespeare
Ass
What a beast is this, this Ass, I ponder why It does cause such laughter, and why it does fly Through the air, so light and free, like a bird in the sky Ah, but perhaps it is because it is so very sly For the Ass knows what it knows, and it will use it with care To make sure it gets what it wants, and that it is aware Of the things that it needs, and how to get them there As if it had some sort of secret knowledge to share And yet, the Ass is so slow, and so content To plod along, and sometimes even to vent Though it sometimes gets angry, and its temper it will show It still seems to find a way to make us all laugh and glow So, even though it may not be the fastest of its kind It still manages to make us all laugh, and put us in a better mind And that is why, I think, we all love this Ass so much For it brings us such joy, and makes us laugh and hush.
