Should my happiness be my first priority?

Should my happiness be my first priority? To answer this question, I must consider a few things. Is it selfish to pursue my own happiness? Is it a wise decision to put my own desires before the needs of others? Ah, these questions can be rather tricky to answer. Perhaps, when it comes to happiness, it is a balance of self-interest and consideration of others. For if I am to be truly happy, I must strive to make those around me happy as well. And if I am to be of service to my community, then I must be willing to sacrifice some of my own desires. But then again, if I neglect my own needs and desires, I will be unable to help those around me. So, it is important to remember that my own happiness is essential to achieving a balanced life. Therefore, I must conclude that my happiness should be my first priority—but not my only priority. For in order to be truly happy, I must consider the needs of others just as much as my own.
