William Shakespeare
Is Greed a option?
Is greed a choice? Some may say yes, others may disagree, but for me, I think it depends on the individual. It is said that greed is a universal emotion, but I believe it is only a matter of perspective. Take for example the man who desires wealth beyond his means. He may be driven by a need for security and a desire to provide for his family, yet his ambition could be seen as an act of greed. On the other hand, a woman who is determined to achieve success in her career may be motivated by a sense of accomplishment, but her ambition could be seen as a form of greed. Greed is a slippery slope, and it is often difficult to discern between ambition and greed. It is possible to have ambition without being driven by greed, but it is also possible to be driven by greed without ambition. So, is greed a choice? Ultimately, it comes down to the individual and how they choose to use their ambition. Greed can be a powerful force, but it can also be a destructive one. It is up to each of us to choose how we use our ambition and to be mindful of the consequences of our choices.
