William Shakespeare
The meaning of marriage
Methinks marriage is a curious endeavor, which oft brings forth much joy and mirth, yet it is not without its trials and tribulations. To be joined in matrimony is to be yoked to another; two souls, two hearts, two minds, bound together in love and companionship. To be wed is to be joined in a sacred union, a contract of two persons, made in the eyes of God, and in the eyes of the world. It is the meeting of two unique individuals, the coming together of two separate paths, to create a new journey. It is a journey of discovery, one in which each partner learns and grows, and finds new depths of understanding. It is a journey of love, and of commitment, of honor and respect. It is a journey of laughter and joy, of sorrow and pain. It is a journey of life, and of death, of beginnings and endings. Marriage is a bond of trust and fidelity. It is a promise of faithfulness, of loyalty, and of love. It is a promise to be true to one another, to be honest and open, to be kind and caring. It is a promise to be a partner, a companion, and a friend. It is a promise to be a support and a shelter, to bring strength and courage in times of need. Marriage is a beautiful and wondrous thing, a blessing to be shared and cherished. It is a gift, a gift of love, of companionship, and of happiness. It is a gift that should be cherished and nourished, nurtured and grown. For in marriage lies the true meaning of life, and the true joy of living.
