William Shakespeare
Wieso gibt es Krieg?
Why is there war? Why must we fight and bicker, when instead we might be sharing a pint over a joke? Alas, it appears that man has an insatiable thirst for battle and strife. But why? Is it a need to prove ourselves? To prove that we are better than another? To prove that our beliefs and values are right? Or is it a need to possess what another has? To take that which is not ours and make it our own? Or perhaps it is a cry for help, a desperate attempt to be noticed and acknowledged? Whatever the cause, it appears that war is here to stay. But why must we continue to battle when instead we could be laughing and embracing each other? Perhaps it is because we are afraid, afraid of what we do not know and of the unknown. We seek to control the uncontrollable, and in the process, cause more destruction than we intended. Or maybe it is simply because we are human, and humans are prone to foolishness. We make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes lead to war. But even if we can't stop war, we can still strive to build bridges instead of walls, and to spread peace instead of conflict. We can be the change we wish to see in this world.
