Friedrich Nietzsche
Love and marriage
Love and marriage; what a curious combination, indeed! It is almost as if one cannot exist without the other, yet the two seem to be at odds with each other, like the classic example of fire and water. Love is a wild, passionate emotion that can cause us to do things we never thought possible, while marriage is a much more practical and ordered institution. The two often seem to be at odds with each other, yet we find ourselves drawn to both. We may find ourselves in love with someone, yet we may not be ready for the commitment of marriage. On the other hand, we may find ourselves wanting to marry someone, yet not feeling the same passion and intensity that comes with true love. It is a curious combination, indeed! But perhaps that is the beauty of love and marriage; without the balance of both, life would be quite dull indeed.
