Ashoka

'Tis the bane of the great Ashoka, who's name is now lost to posterity. He was a powerful king, a conqueror of many lands, yet his reign of terror was brought to an end by his sudden conversion to Buddhism. He put away his weapons of war and instead chose to spread the teachings of peace and compassion. His legacy is one of a great leader, who chose to forsake violence and instead embrace the power of kindness. His actions have inspired many, and yet his name is now lost to us. We can only guess at how his reign may have unfolded, had he chosen to stay the course of war. Alas, 'tis a great shame that we will never know. But his legacy is clear, and his teachings still remain with us today, a testament to the power of love and understanding.
